The daily allocation for free school meals is £2.50. If your child would like to purchase additional food, please ensure that the account is topped up online via the BCBC pay it website. Pupils have unique cashless numbers (this will be different to primary school numbers). Parent/Carers are informed of this number during the year 7 intake in September. You will need this number to order from the canteen and to top up the cashless account online. Please contact the school if your child has joined Brynteg school as a Mid-Transfer student.

Cashless catering information: To credit money on your child’s account you need to do this via: BCBC Pay It

Cashless Catering

We do not accept cash at any of our food points in school.  We use a biometric system which recognised a number of points on your thumbprint (your complete thumbprint is not stored).  We have to have permission to do this from your parents/carers, and we will write to them before you start school.  If parents/carers do not wish to participate in the biometric scheme, the pupil will be issued with a pin number

There are two ways to put cash into your account:

Parents and carers can transfer money using the BCBC website (see link below).  This is by far the easiest and most secure method.

Pupils can bring in money and deposit it into one of the cashpoint machines (see image on the left above).  They will access the cashpoint using their thumbprint or with a pin number.  The cashpoints can also be used to check balances.

Every time a pupil uses one of our canteens, the amount of the purchase is deducted from their account.

Pupils who are eligible for free school meals will have their accounts topped up automatically at the start of each week. They will use the cashless system in exactly the same way as other pupils.

Spoilt for choice!

There is a canteen situated in the languages/expressive arts centre (lower school) and a coffee shop situated in humanities (upper school).

Both are open from 8am to serve breakfast and then at morning break and lunchtime.  The food /drinks on offer include:

The salad bar. This area serves fresh, healthy food like salad, pasta, sandwiches, hot or cold baguettes, tortilla wraps, jacket potatoes, fresh fruit and yoghurt, which are prepared daily.

Lite bites. This area has quick, hot, nutritious food. There are hot and cold filled baguettes, paninis, rolls, pizza, bagels, jacket potatoes, fresh fruit and yoghurt. It’s perfect for students attending lunchtime lessons or clubs.

Main meals. The menu changes every three weeks, and includes a vegetarian option. There are traditional roast days with Yorkshire puddings in rich gravy, as well as international dishes like chicken tikka. The main meal is served with pasta, rice or a choice of potatoes and seasonal vegetables. Chips are only available on Fridays.
