A number of our Year 12 Product Design students took advantage of an opportunity to spend three days at university prior to making their UCAS application provided by Head Start Cymru and the Engineering Education Scheme Wales.
Headstart Cymru is a residential summer school; our students stayed in typical undergraduate accommodation at the university, and attend broad-based courses looking at a range of engineering disciplines. The courses were designed to give students a real taste of what it is like to study at university.
The three day course introduced to students several different branches of science and engineering and provided hands-on experience of real practical problem solving.
On returning from the three day events our students were enthused and felt that the experience providing a valuable addition to their UCAS application and helped them the best course for them.
