On Wednesday 13th December nine year 11 pupils as well as two members of staff travelled to the Christmas markets in Cologne for 5 days.
The pupils soaked in the Christmas spirit while browsing the stalls in the Christmas markets. They took every opportunity to practice their German, but also got to know a little bit more about everyday life in Germany, not only how to negotiate the German transport system (we didn’t get ourselves lost), but they also learned about how Christmas is celebrated in Germany. They even got to meet “St. Nikolaus” himself while on a river boat cruise down the Rhein! The pupils also had the opportunity to visit Bonn and the nearby theme park “Phantasialand”.
A good time was had by all and the pupils have no doubt gained in confidence when speaking German.
