On Monday 29th January the Welsh National Opera visited the school, for a day of workshops on “Tosca”. The workshops were held in the Lower School hall and involved year 12 and year 13 drama classes, year 10 music and drama classes and various year 9 classes. The workshops were thoroughly enjoyable giving our pupils a unique learning experience. The workshops included a virtual reality experience using the very latest technology. The pupils also had the opportunity to work alongside a group of professionals from WNO including Louise Maddy (Project Manager), Sophie Rashbrook (Workshop Leader), Ryan Ross (Baritone), Sian Davies (Repetiteur) and Davis Massey (Digital Producer).
In addition the Music department has arranged a free visit for the whole of year 9 along with KS4 & KS5 music and drama students to attend the matinee dress rehearsal performance of Welsh National Opera’s Tosca at the Millennium Centre in Cardiff on Wednesday 7th February. The purpose of the visit is to experience a live opera performance to further enrich the pupils musical experiences. This is an exciting opportunity for our pupils.
