The Band of the Welsh Guards visit Wednesday 4th October 2017

Looks who’s coming to visit us.

The Band of the Welsh Guards

Director of Music: Lt Col K F N Roberts

The Band of the Welsh Guards was formed in 1915 in the same year as the Regiment, and carried out its first King’s Guard Mounting on St. David’s Day in 1916.

The musicians in the band can regularly be seen at the world famous ceremony of the Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace, as well as at the Nation’s many other State and Ceremonial occasions including Trooping the Colour and at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday. The Band have performed all over the world, including the recent WW1 Centenary ceremonies at the Somme and Ypres, and in the last three years have performed as far afield as Canada, Jordan, Australia and New Zealand. At home, the band has performed with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in some of the most spectacular extravaganzas staged in the Royal Albert Hall.

The band maintains its links with the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards’ traditional recruiting areas, with public performances and music workshops in Welsh schools and colleges, and charity concerts in aid of recognised Military charities.
