Brynteg Comprehensive School once again hosted the Bridgend Spelling Bee in June. The annual event was well attended, with five local schools participating this year: Brynteg, Porthcawl, Cynffig, Maesteg and Pencoed.
Cara Sweeney, William Furlong and Amelia Penny (now of year 8) represented Brynteg. They worked very hard in the run up to the competition, learning spelling patterns and memorising difficult words. They all performed extremely well on the night, tackling some very tricky words. However, the standard of the competition was extremely high this year and the winners’ trophy went to William Evans of Cynffig Comprehensive School, who gave a very confident performance. Congratulations William!
Calling all Year Sevens! Could you be the pupil to win the trophy back for Brynteg in 2018? Look out for notices in the summer term, but start practising now in order that you can bee the best.
