RE: School Uniform Changes September 2017.
In March 2017 I wrote to you outlining the changes we are implementing to the school uniform. This has come about as a result of our discussions with the Pupil Council and wider consultation. At our recent Y6 Parents’ Evening our Year 7 pupils modelled the new school blazer and feedback from parents/carers was very positive.
The new school blazer will be introduced in September 2017 and is COMPULSORY for all pupils, with the exception of those in Years 11 and 13. However, pupils in Years 11 and 13 may wear the new blazer if they wish.
At this time of year I appreciate that parents/carers will be purchasing school uniform for the new academic year and would take this opportunity to ask for your support in ensuring that standards of uniform are in line with the high expectations that we all hold. One issue we are encountering is the length of girls’ skirts. Quite simply they are too short and in many cases are too tight fitting. Can we respectfully remind you that school skirts are to be mid length or knee length and loose fitting. We have no wish for parents/carers to be wasting money on school skirts that are unacceptable or, indeed, to have to impose sanctions because skirts are too short or too tight and thus not appropriate as part of our school uniform. The current summer school uniform that replaces a shirt and tie with a polo shirt at this time will remain. An extract from the pupil planner is overleaf.
We are looking forward to seeing our pupils in their new blazers and know they will continue to wear their Brynteg uniform with pride and strive for the very high standards that we always endeavour to achieve. Once again may I thank you for your continued support and wish you all a good summer.
Finally, a reminder that the first day of term for pupils is Tuesday, 5th September 2017. Have a good Summer.
