We celebrated our annual Rankin Scholar assembly on Friday 11th January. The award is as a result of the legacy of John Rankin, a former Headteacher of Bridgend Boys Grammar (1896—1928). The Rankin Scholar Award is based on academic results but not necessarily those students achieving the highest grades. Consideration must also be given to the student character, loyalty to the school and to services rendered to the school.

Our 2018 Rankin Scholar winners both performed exceptionally well in the recent A level examinations but also made a significant contribution to the life of the school. Congratulations to Lowri Rees and Joseph Davis they are both worthy winners of this award.
Lowri Rees:
Lowri has excelled academically gaining an A* in Photography, A grades in both English and Drama and a B grade in Music. Her attitude to her education was always very positive and fully committed. We wish Lowri the very best with her continued studies at the University of Gloucester studying Performing Arts.
