Brynteg Computer Science Pupils Visits University of Wales
On Wednesday 4th July 2018 Mr D Pearce accompanied year 12 pupils from Brynteg School who are studying A Level Computer Science on a visit to University of Wales.
The pupils spent the day with university staff where they attended a session on Social Engineering and seeing how easily someone can gain access to your personal details through social networks and use the information found there to access your email account. Advice was provided to stop it happening to them.
Another session introduced a new computer powered by marbles and was delivered by a games reviewer and developer who makes a living playing computer games! The last session was learning a new programming language called Python and using it to control a Raspberry Pi to take pictures and video.
At the end of an intense but enjoyable day all the pupils had acquired new knowledge and skills. They can already program in VB.net and now have an insight into another programming language. This will help them develop their programming skills for both the exam and the practical aspect of their course
